High Blood Pressure A Single Mother Raising Two Teenage...

Gladys is a single mother raising two teenage boys who works second shift as an LPN and has been referred to this department for evaluation by her employer and her physician. While reviewing the patient case, I became aware of multiple chronic disease risk factors that are exhibited including hypertension, overweight status, poor nutritional status, low activity level, and high stress level. These risk factors have been linked to multiple chronic illnesses including diabetes mellitus, Coronary heart disease, stroke, obesity, and cancer (Battle, 2009). Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in America and in the world and while Gladys has not been diagnosed with Coronary heart disease, she does have high blood pressure†¦show more content†¦To do this, I recommend that Gladys focus on consuming a variety of nutrient-rich foods while limiting saturated and trans fats, cholesterol, added sugars, salt, and alcohol; balance energy intake and expenditure, refer to the USDA Food Guide known as MyPyramid for guidance, and possibly make small decreases over time in calorie intake and small increases over time in physical activity. These recommendations been proven to be effective at lowering body weight and blood pressure (Schlenker Roth, 2011). To facilitate these health behavior changes, we should refer to a few different health behavior theories. The Transtheoretical Model states that behavior change is a process that occurs in stages where the individual moves from the first stage, pre-contemplation to contemplation, preparation, action, and finally maintenance (Hayden, 2014). Gladys is currently in the pre-contemplation stage and will hopefully move into the contemplation stage upon the next meeting. Before this can occur, we must refer to the Health Belief Model. Generally speaking, if there is an unbalance in cell phone usage between partners someone is bound to feel ignored. Engaging in technology separate to a partner encourages a disconnection rather than a connection. (Bilton, 2014) Also stated by Bilton, disconnection in relationships leads to feelings of dissatisfaction and compromises any sense of safety, attachment and control. Privacy, Trust, and Freedom seem to be essential terms revolving around the topic of relationship satisfaction. â€Å"Partners are more satisfied if they do not have rules prohibiting them from checking one another’s call and text logs† (Miller-Ott, Kelly, Duran, 2012). Considering the idea of trust basically being thrown out the window here, I find it very interesting that this was the conclusion made from the results of the study. Insecurity and jealousy are likely the motifs for this increase in satisfaction, having full access to their partner’s phone nullifies those traits. This is understandable because â€Å"Problems may arise when the cell phone is used inappropriately† (Miller-Ott et al., 2012). For example, texting a member of the opposite sex. If a partner has given the other a reason to lose trust this can easily separate the two and cause arguments. Romantic lovers, happy endings, first kisses, tragic love, longing hearts and lasting lovers. Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night examines patterns of love and courtship through a twisting of gender roles. Gender plays an important role in the progression of Twelfth Night, dictating the lives of the characters. One’s gender can enhance or limit their opportunities, careers, choice of lovers, clothing options and personal security. Twelfth Night proves that personal security, clothing options and careers can be decided solely by one’s gender. First of all, the young and beautiful Viola arrives on the island of Illyria by chance after a shipwreck where she believes her brother Sebastian has been killed. Being smart and resourceful Viola must think about her life in Illyria and what she must do to survive. She decides to adopt the persona of a man. Viola says to the captain â€Å"I’ll serve the duke: Thou shall present me as an eunuch to him† (I. Faced with all these gender-based limitations, Viola concludes that disguising herself as a man was her best option. Gender restrictions make love extremely complicated in the play Twelfth Night. Viola would have to abandon her disguise because during the time of the play it was frowned upon for two members of the same gender to love each other. Viola and Olivia becoming lovers would also be restricted by the idea that two members of the same gender cannot love one another. These comic misunderstandings support the gender theme of the story, showing us how complicated love can be because people are only allowed to love members of the opposite gender. Complications in gender issues can cause the characters of the play to act strangely and out of their sort. In Shakespeare’s play two people of the same gender forming a bond is forbidden, however there were some occasions where it happened. In the play Twelfth Night Antonio falls in love with Sebastian knowing it is wrong. Antonio says to Sebastian â€Å"But, come what may, I do adore thee so, that danger shall seem sport, and I will go† (II. I. 42-43). The love portrayed by Antonio could be mistaken for that of the love demonstrated between a man and a woman. Antonio claims his love for Sebastian started when â€Å"From the rude sea’s enraged and foamy mouth; did I redeem; a wreck past hope he was: his life I gave him and did thereto add; my love, without retention or restraint; all his love in dedication; for his sake; did I expose myself, pure for his love† (V. I. 75-80). Antonio’s actions could be mistaken as something he would say to someone like Olivia. Antonio’s actions toward Sebastian could be mistaken because people of the same gender did not love each other and it is as if Antonio is saying †go buy yourself something you like† something a man might say to his wife. Gender can enhance or limit a character’s opportunities, careers, clothing options and personal security. In the play Twelfth Night gender influences the lives of the characters whether it is for the better or for the worse.

They made an attempt to declare their rights and show other people how it is possible to follow own dreams and have at least an independent mind and spirit. In general, Alvarez’s novel is a powerful stimulus for the reader to evaluate his/her own place in the world. The peculiar feature of the story is that it does not have a pure positive or negative attitude to the revolution and people’s sacrifices. This work helps to understand that any person has the right of choice: it is poss ible to have a free and bright still not too long life or to be dependent on the conditions and circumstances and live long without considering personal ideas but follow the others. It is easy to check the importance of managing these service encounters.  Ã‚   Think back to the last time you visited a hotel or restaurant.  Ã‚   Service encounters are the building blocks of quality hospitality service.   First, hospitality managers should identify each encounter in the chain that they wish to take apart, and then single out those that are of operational or strategic significance – in effect, focusing in on the few encounters that really make a difference to guest experience and thus to the bottom line. Second, apply what we have called the 6 S’s to improving these critical encounters through effective redesign. While the first step may seem obvious, it is important to identify a service chain and then to break it down into the component encounters.  Ã‚  Ã‚   Too much detail takes time and resources, and may confuse rather than clarify.  Ã‚   Too little and we may miss important problems.  Ã‚   The process is iterative, with more detail needed in some areas and less in others, and with an overriding consideration that the chain is assessed not just from the point of view of a manager but also from that of a guest. Those that add significant value to the guest, those that cost in time or money, those that help to differentiate the business from its competitors, and those where significant innovation is possible or occurring. Hospitality service encounters run the gamut from those that are very trivial to those that are highly critical. They vary greatly in their nature and may be simple or complex, standard or custom, low tech or high tech, remote or friendly, low or high skill, frequent or occasional, and so on. They can be instrumental dealing with the performance of necessary utilitarian activities or can involve emotion-laden hospitality events. An initial management task is to understand a service encounter by discerning and dealing with those attributes that are most important to guests. Feelings: When I started this transition program, I expected to learn so little because the program was only to run for a day. More so, I expect ed that since to the pharmacy team it would be a normal working day, they would have little time to explain to me their operations. But the team was co-operative and helpful which made me view them as colleagues. Despite me being a student, they respected me and I will not forget the pharmacist always wanting me close so that I could learn effectively and as much as possible. Evaluation: Among the people with mental health disorders, the greatest needs include understanding the happenings within their environments; feeling their emotions but also learning to manage them; being able to communicate with those who make decisions for them; and feeling stable in their thinking (Solchany 2011).
